Thin Them Out is a "surprisingly personal tale" that "does what so many zombie comics fail to do: offer something new to the zombie genre.... It is a harrowing tale with a pulse that quickens right to the last word.... some of the coolest zombie action you'll read this year."
Mark L. Miller ("AmbushBug"), AintItCool.com
The dead.
The dead are getting up. Walking around. Acting... strangely.
And killing.
But sometimes, in this terrifying new world, it's the living you have to worry about.
Kim Paffenroth, author of the Dying to Live series and the Bram Stoker Award-winning Gospel of the Living Dead, has collaborated with RJ and Julia Sevin, editors of Corpse Blossoms, to bring you a harrowing glimpse into a harsh world where the living are little more than ticking time bombs charged with paranoia and hostility, and the dead have begun to stage bizarre endeavors of their own.
"This chapbook is a terrific, entertaining and quick read that is well worth the very modest investment."
Norman L. Rubenstein, FearZone.com
Originally conceived as a fun pocket collectible to sell at Pittsburgh's Zombie Fest in October '08, Thin Them Out is already getting raves from those who bought it at the Monroeville Mall-based convention.
With such a successful premier, making this 10k-word chapbook available at creepinghemlock.com was a no-brainer.
"Paranoia, suspicion, back-alley plans--all the elements that really make zombie fiction hum are found here. It's a fast-paced tale with twists and turns laid throughout its compact 30-plus pages.... Highly recommended."
Blu Gilliand, Dark Scribe Magazine
About the Authors
Kim Paffenroth
Kim Paffenroth is Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Iona College and the author of several books on the Bible and Theology. Since 2006 he has turned his attention to the undead. His nonfiction examination of Romero's zombie films, Gospel of the Living Dead: George Romero's Visions of Hell on Earth (Baylor, 2006) won the Bram Stoker Award. His zombie novels Dying to Live (Permuted, 2007) and Dying to Live: Life Sentence (Permuted, 2008) have been well-received, as has the anthology he edited, History Is Dead: A Zombie Anthology (Permuted, 2008).
RJ Sevin
Born and raised in the shadow of New Orleans and surrounded by horror movies, monster masks, sex, drugs, and rock 'n- roll, RJ Sevin has written off and on since 1990, when he began writing his first (abandoned) novel--a zombie tale (surprise!) set in hurricane-ravaged New Orleans. He's currently shopping his first completed novel to agents. (It may or may not have something to do with zombies.) His first published short story, "Blood and Sand" in Maelstrom I, earned an honorable mention in Ellen Datlow's Year's Best Fantasy & Horror (2006). His flash fiction pieces "Not At All Like the Movies" and "Dickey Size It" are found in Bits of the Dead (ed. Keith Gouveia) and the Postcards from Hell series, respectively. His short story "In Her Hand a Rag, a Rope" will appear in an upcoming issue of Cemetery Dance Magazine.
Julia Sevin
Julia originally hails from Mendocino, California. Her only published fiction is "The Shunned", a flash fiction piece found in Keith Gouveia's Bits of the Dead.
